Sixth-graders Travel the Silk Road
Sixth-grade social studies students had an interactive lesson January 23 as they traveled a mock Silk Road set up throughout the building. Student groups traveled to stations to learn about seismographs, acupuncture, print making, the abacus and spiritual beliefs of the East during the time. Students bartered for silk, gold, brass, and spices and ran into bandits and philosophers along the way!
The Silk Road has become an annual tradition at Carver, incorporating, not only teachers, but office staff, school nurse, and guidance as actors. Student leaders also explained certain stations.
