Bachelor's Degree in Math Education
Ms. Charmaine Walker-Davis
I am a Mathematics teacher born in the beautiful tropical island of Jamaica. A single mother of two beautiful children, and I love indoor and outdoor games. In my spare time you will find me watching videos and creating interactive lessons, or braiding hair.
After a busy week, on weekends, you will find me preparing jerk chicken, soup, rice and beans, and festival, while dancing and enjoying the outdoor gathering with my children.
I became a teacher because as a child I realized that I was able to use real life situations to assist my peers in grasping mathematical concepts, and I was very creative with making learning fun. I believe that a lot of students have a fear of the subject and that I have the ability to change their views by making math fun, interesting and relevant.
I was employed to the Ministry of Education, in Jamaica for over 25 years. I am certified with the South Carolina State Board of Education and has successfully completed a course in Technology at the Dillon High School, at which I taught for one beautiful year. I am an outgoing, loyal and committed person and a great team-player.
I have received awards for outstanding performances from Central High School – Teacher of the Year in 2015; Form teacher of the year while at Manning’s High for two consecutive years (2017 and 2018). These accomplishments were recognized through my involvement in choreographing dance moves for Central High School and the Wesleyan Basic School; Guider of the Girl Guide Unit; Assistant coach for the National Schools’ Challenge Quiz Team; member of the student council department; member of the 4K Run/Walk committee; and member of the netball and volleyball community club.
