Mr. Kevin Maloney

Kevin Maloney is in his second year as the Director of Bands at Carver Middle School as well as Mary H. Wright and Cleveland Academy of Leadership elementary schools. In addition to his teaching responsibilities he also is on staff with the Viking Marching Band at Spartanburg High School. Kevin is familiar with the district 7 family as he student taught at Spartanburg High School and E.P. Todd Elementary and Middle School while in college. 

Kevin is still an active performer, composer, and arranger of music. He has performed with such groups as the Poinsett Wind Symphony, Spartanburg Philharmonic Percussion Ensemble, and the Kentucky Intercollegiate Band. He has worked with composers and arrangers such as David Maslanka, Jay Bocook, Omar Carmenates and Brian S. Mason. He has also been under the baton of conductors such as Emily Threinen, Craig Kirchhoff, Brian Balmages, Richard Saucedo, and Keith Lockhart of the Boston Pops Orchestra. 

Kevin holds degrees from Furman Univeristy (Greenville, SC) with a Bachelors in Music Education (2016) and a Masters in Music Education from Morehead State Univerisity (Morehead, KY) (2019). While at both universities, Kevin played with the concert wind ensembles, percussion enesmbles, marching bands, and orchestras. He also had the opportunity to conduct the Morehead State Univeristy Symphony Band as well as the Concert Band. 

Before arriving to teach in Spartanburg District 7, Kevin started his career within the Greenville County Schools where he taught band and orchestra. Kevin believes in giving his students every opportunity that is available to them and also believes in a well rounded educational philosophy.
