Welcome to the 2019-20 school year.

I am extremely honored and happy to become your new principal. I am looking forward to continuing to work with our dynamic staff, dedicated parents, and involved community members. Most of all, I look forward to working with your children and continuing the outstanding work that is taking place at Mary H. Wright Elementary. I fully understand that I have some big shoes to fill. Rest assured that my goal will be to build on what everyone has worked so hard to achieve, and to use that strong foundation to keep our students soaring. Together, we will continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities and academic excellence for all of our students.

I am committed to working with our faith-based partner, Episcopal Church of the Advent, and with our many local partner agencies in Spartanburg.  These local partners pack food bags for some of our students to have on weekends, help assist families with Christmas, tutor students, mentor students, help with holiday classroom parties, organize special themed days for different grade levels, and even sponsored a Leadership Club this past year where 20 students went to Atlanta, Georgia.

We are so fortunate to have the resources and instructional tools necessary for our students to fulfill the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.  In 2019-20, students in grades 2nd-5th grades will be 1:1 with MacBooks and our K and 1st will be 1:1 with iPads. These tools will assist our teaching staff as they search for ways to reach all of our students.  We also have a Technology Integration Specialist on staff that assists teachers in integrating technology into classroom lessons.

Our goal for the past four years has been to be recognized as one of the fastest improving schools in South Carolina.  Momentum is growing; like my predecessor, Dr. Zachary, vowed, I too believe we can add an addition to this goal.  We not only want to be one of the fastest growing academic schools in South Carolina, but we want to be widely recognized for our wonderful Arts program that showcases our children’s talents and abilities.

I look forward to a wonderful school year!

    Tammy Jordan

    Principal
