  • Preventing the Summer Slide clip art

When thinking of a summer slide, we think of fun at a park, playground, or a water fun ride in the hot Spartanburg weather. But this type of Summer Slide is very different. The summer slide refers to a decline in reading and math that can occur during the summer weeks when school isn’t in session.

Preventing the summer slide is a very simple thing to do.  In order to prevent your student from taking a dip in their achievement, keep the learning  going. This isn’t a heavy requirement of the part of the parent. It is about making sure your student’s academic skills are staying sharp by having practice and engage in reading, math, and communication and having fun with science and social studies.

AND.......if your student participates in the Summer Slide Program, there is a party at the beginning to school that they will be invited to attend.

You can learn more about activities your student can complete by downloading the Summer Slide Program Documents.
